bright

As the days lengthen and the sun rises higher in the sky, we are starting to appreciate the new light levels in the house.  The new open landing is particularly bright and sunny.

We’ve got a ceiling again up there, which helps reduce the draughts…

Still to do: sort out the floor, improve the insulation around the dormer windows, fit double glazing, and other stuff.  Like sockets and lights.  The bedrooms will have doors straight onto the new landing and the gap in the dividing wall between the rooms (that used to be the doorway to the larger of the 2 rooms) will be closed up.

We’ve decided to do a bit at a time, and the 2 bedrooms will be done first because they are fairly straightforward.

landing3The underside of the floor is still exposed, there’s no ceiling downstairs in the new L Shaped kitchen / family room.  pipesWhich is quite handy if you need to work out where the central heating pipes go.

4 blethers about “bright”

  1. At last, photographs of the house and it looks good.

Is that one of your wonderful hats ?

Are you going to Woolly tales at Alnwick town hall on 27th ? I intend to go in the afternoon, as at Hexham until 1 pm. I may drop in after visiting Alnwick, as could be in dire need of tea by then. It is 10 am until 4 pm. Phil may or may not be with me.

Will you be keeping the exposed brickwork, as it looks nice ?

    1. Yes, another hat. This is Dave’s second hat, a bit longer over his ears and lined with fleece for cosiness.
Woolfest definitely, the Alnwick one possibly. See you soon.

  2. Great to see you writing again and lovely words on the funeral. The house is looking fab and LIGHT! xxxx

too late, no more blethering allowed on this post!
