to town

On our last day in Provence, Dave and I had a very leisurely cup of tea sitting in the sun outside a cafe.  Dave had a sudoku magazine and I had my kindle.  We sat there perfectly content, comfortable in each other’s company, happy in our own world.

We’ve since discovered a similar pleasure at the Tyneside Coffee Room in the Tyneside Cinema in town.  Every so often we head off down to Newcastle, park on top of John Lewis, and head off in opposite directions before meeting up at the Tyneside.

It doesn’t matter who gets there first, because the idea is that it’s a chance to sit and read, or to make notes, or to do some thinking without the distraction of work or the phone ringing or emails arriving.

More often than not we will have something to eat too, and the menu at the Tyneside is a bit old fashioned and comforting; poached eggs on toast, and baked potato with baked beans hold their own amongst the much more modern cheese and tuna melts.

We went yesterday, and while Dave went off and did his thing, I had a good old squoosh of wool in the gorgeous little Knit Studio in Blackfriars, and had a wander through John Lewis and spotted a spotty top perfect for a certain 9 year old (already packaged up and in the post).

It was great, and the baked potato with baked beans and cheese was yummy too.

4 blethers about “to town”

  1. Could you not have asked Lord Grey to turn round and face the camera, it would have made a much better picture!!!
    Dad

    1. Hello

      Oh what whit.

Lovely day. We were at the Wear and Teesdale watershed with Phil trying out his skis to the sound of curlews, grouse and lapwings; bliss.

Today, we intended to drop in after a walk up the coast, but it is wet snowing here, soo reading and emailing instead. soo those skis could see more action this week.

I love the Tyneside to for its’ oldfashionedness. Off to Wingham Wools, Rotherham with the Travelling spinners to buy lots of fleece to do more spinning with. We shall have to swap wool stories. Fancy a jaunt to Woolfest together.

In the meantime, how is the house progressing ? Is there a car park with Earl Grey looking into it ?

      Love Rutsxx

  2. Lovely lovely lovely shots of “home” for homesick ex-pats!!

    (what exactly is a “squoosh”?)

  3. A good squoosh of wool – hooray – can’t be beat! Sounded like a lovely day Kerry – felt like I was there with you.

too late, no more blethering allowed on this post!
